Divisional Manager; Sustainability and Climate Change (London, UK or Gauteng, South Africa)

Position Overview: The Divisional Manager will lead sustainability reporting, align with industry best practices, and oversee climate change initiatives. Drive data-driven strategies to meet sustainability targets and ensure high-quality service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead global sustainability reporting and ESG initiatives
- Develop cutting-edge climate risk and mitigation strategies
- Guide clients towards net-zero emissions and biodiversity conservation
- Drive innovation in sustainability best practices and reporting frameworks
- Produce comprehensive sustainability reports (TNFD, ISSB, GRI, SASB)
- Improve client scores on key investor questionnaires (CDP, DJSI)
- Conduct sustainability training and workshops for clients and internal teams
- Advise on sustainable procurement and supply chain management
- Assist clients in setting and achieving ambitious sustainability goals
- Oversee the development of Modern Slavery Statements and strategies
- Monitor and report on sustainability performance metrics and KPIs
- Lead and mentor a global team of sustainability and climate change professionals
Skills and Knowledge:
- Strong leadership and mentoring abilities
- Knowledge of Environmental, Mining, and Water legislation
- Proficiency in project management and financial principles
- Deep understanding of responsible investment and sustainability trends
- Knowledge of ESG rating agencies, frameworks, and databases
- Expert in sustainability data and calculation methodologies
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to build credibility with senior executives
- Self-motivated with strong business acumen
- Flair for transforming data into compelling reports and infographics
- Proficiency in GHG accounting, including GHG Protocol and Carbon Reporting
- Expertise in Scope 1, 2, and 3 GHG Accounting and Reporting
Qualifications:
- Postgraduate degree in Financial Communications, Environmental Sciences, Sustainability or similar
Experience:
- 10+ years in sustainability consulting
- 5+ years leading teams in a management role
- Proven track record with sustainability reporting frameworks
- Experience in carbon management and strategy
- Developing carbon reduction strategies, ideally within the resources sectors
- Background in copywriting or editing
