Minimum Requirements
Educational Background:
- Bachelor's Degree: Typically in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering.
Certifications:
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
- Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Azure Administrator Associate
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator
- CompTIA Network+ or CompTIA Server+
Experience:
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in IT infrastructure management, system administration, or a related area.
- Hands-on experience with server hardware and operating systems (e.g., Linux, Windows Server).
- Experience setting up, configuring, and managing network devices like routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies like VMware, Veeam.
- Hands-on experience with Firewalls (Fortigate).
- Hands-on experience with Networks (LAN, WAN, SAN, VPN (SSL/IPSEC)).
- IT Security (FortiGate Firewall on-premise and cloud, Kaspersky Endpoint Security, MFA, Bitlocker, ZScaler).
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of networking protocols, IP addressing, and subnetting.
- Proficiency in setting up and managing cloud infrastructure platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Experience with infrastructure automation tools like Ansible, Terraform, or Puppet.
- Understanding of security protocols, VPNs, and encryption techniques.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Knowledge on the use of PowerShell.
- Knowledge of ITSM principles (Incident, Problem, Change Management).
- Working experience on private and public DNS record management.
- Working experience on Windows (Windows 11 and Server 2016) and Linux operating systems.
- Working experience with Windows server administrative tools such as DNS, DHCP, GPO, and Active Directory.
- Understanding VOIP and Hosted PBXs.

- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Effective communication abilities to liaise with team members, stakeholders, and vendors.

Duties and Responsibilities
Role Purpose:
- Responsible for the management, installation, maintenance, availability, and security of the ICT network across all departments, including the hardware and software infrastructure.
- Take an active role in our ICT provisions.
Objectives:
- To ensure that the integrity of the ICT infrastructure is maintained.
- To support the delivery of ICT and CTO across the Group.
- To advise the Group ICT Manager and CTO on emerging technologies as appropriate.
- To contribute to the vision of the IT development plan.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Management of the network infrastructure and servers.
- To ensure that client’s ICT Support requests are dealt with effectively.
- Identify, plan, and cost future development and upgrades.
- Design and development of ICT-based administrative processes and procedures.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Management of the curriculum and administration networks including Management Information Systems (MIS).
- Identify, plan, and cost all future developments and upgrades of the ICT Infrastructure.
- Liaise with appropriate suppliers regarding purchasing requirements and licensing.
- Ensure data protection applications are current and within the requirements of the POPI Act.
- Responsibility for back-up systems and disaster contingencies as they affect the current networks.
- Arrange for the repair of hardware faults with outside suppliers.
- Liaison with appropriate outside suppliers.
- Manage the installation of all new computer hardware including wireless, fibre optic, networks, and external projects, as required.
- Manage and implement the installation of all new computer software as required.
- Arrange annual inspection and safety testing of computer equipment.
- Manage the day-to-day maintenance of the Group's computer systems, including:
- Network user database and password allocations.
- Management of internet filters.
- Responsibility for all planned ICT works and liaise with workers and external contractors/suppliers.
- Manage appropriate technical support administration.
- Assist staff with ICT-related problems.
- Responsibility for maintaining the Group’s computer inventory, insurance list, and computer audit.
- Support as required with the management of the Group.
- Ensure that all ICT requests entered into the Helpdesk management system are processed in a timely manner and staff kept up to date with the progress.
- Ensure all quotations offer best value to the Group.
- Liaise with appropriate staff on new ICT projects.
- Advise staff in the best use of ICT for the required Group structure.
- Develop and maintain the Group's internet and intranet.
- Respond to specified requests from Management Team for the design and development of administrative processes and/or procedures.
- Manage remote access for the group's staff (VPN).
- Manage peripheral equipment such as scanners and printers.
Other Duties:
- To comply with individual responsibilities, in accordance with the role, for health and safety within the Group.
- Share the Group's commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all staff members through having knowledge of statutory guidelines and safeguarding.
- To ensure that all duties and services provided are in accordance with the current IT policies and procedures.
- To undertake training as and when required.
- To actively engage in the performance management of the staff.
