Radiation Protection Officer
The incumbent in this role is responsible for coordinating, facilitating, and managing systems that ensure compliance with the conditions of the Certificates of Registration of Ergo Mining as well as radiation legislation and company policies.
THE ROLE OF THE RADIATION PROTECTION OFFICER
- Responsible for day-to-day management of radiation protection function in line with regulatory requirements.
- Establishing effective and efficient working methods from a radiation protection perspective.
- Acquisition and maintenance of radiation protection measuring instruments.
- Preparation and implementation of internal procedures and guidelines with respect to radiation protection, as well as measures to take in case of incidents and exposures.
- Implement procedures related to the management of radioactive materials and transportation of radioactive materials.
- Responsible for coordination of all radiation projects across ERGO Mining operations.
- Responsible for managing radioactive sources and waste onsite.
Minimum Requirements
- Matric certificate or equivalent.
- Relevant three-year Degree/ National Diploma.
- 5 years’ minimum experience in radiation protection in the mining and minerals processing.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g., NNR Act, Nuclear Energy Act).
- Reside within 30KM radius from Ergo Operations.
- Computer literacy in MS Office (Word, Excel, Email).
