Description
American Track is looking for a diligent Estimator to prepare accurate estimates for projects by gathering information and analyzing important metrics. You will provide knowledge of cost and benefits that support profitable business decisions. The ideal candidate will have excellent numerical skills and an analytical mindset. You must be thorough and apt in managing relationships with key persons. The goal is to provide detailed reports so the company can make informed decisions that will enhance its profitability and growth.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyzing requirement documents, blueprints and project plans to gain a thorough understanding of the project
- Review design documents to identify risks and opportunities related to competitive pricing for key project elements
- Preparing material estimates and cost estimates
- Conduct site investigation prior to bidding to identify any problems or conditions of an unusual nature that may be present
- Create labor estimates and proposals in a timely manner for any project
- Managing bids from vendors and subcontractors
- Compiling and recording actual costs
- Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and subcontractors
- All other duties as assigned
Requirements
Education Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering/construction related field (Preferred)
Work Experience Required:
- 1-2 years of successful management experience
- 1-2 years of experience in construction estimating (Railroad experience preferred)
Skills & Knowledge Required:
- Highly organized and proficient communicator
- Ability to read and accurately interpret civil drawings
- Ideal candidate would have background in railroad or highway construction
- Proficiency with Heavy Bid, Construction link or similar estimating products
- Proficiency with primavera P6 or similar scheduling software
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Expertise with analytic tools, such as spreadsheets and database managers
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experienced in project estimation
- Exceptional time management skills
