Financial Manager Job Description
The Financial Manager's responsibility is to effectively manage financial staff nationally and in doing so, facilitate the compilation of accurate and reliable management accounts. Ultimately, the position's purpose is to manage the company’s financial health through cash flow monitoring and the effective management of profitability variables – Costs, Price, Volumes, and Product Mix Shifts.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Financial Administration:
- Check all bank accounts are balanced daily.
- Capture petty cash payments monthly.
- Plan cash flow daily and update actuals.
- Calculate and process month-end journals for interest income and interest paid.
- Capture credit card accounts.
- Calculate Agent’s commission on sales and make the payments.
- Process journals for samples and damaged stock for the month.
- Depreciate assets monthly.
- Manage insurance claims and payments required for ACS nationally.
- Maintain fixed assets for ACS.
- Manage rental agreements, payments & updates.
- Complete year-end by 15 March for submission to auditors.
- Assist with the annual audit.
- Debtors:
- Manage bank capturing of receipts daily and petty cash receipts monthly.
- Manage allocation of receipts to debtor accounts.
- Manage collection of outstanding debts.
- Manage export procedures.
- Creditors:
- Convert purchase orders into supplier invoices.
- Capture direct expenses and reconcile creditors.
- Submit payment list of creditors and make payments when approved.
- Manage purchase orders on SmartEdge.
- Manage foreign creditors’ accounts.
- Payroll:
- Manage payroll.
- Check payroll before approval.
- Load all payments (salary-related).
- Legislation Administration:
- Compile VAT return monthly filed on e-filing.
- Conduct VAT reviews or audits.
- Submit EMP201 monthly filed on e-filing and paid.
- Arrange submission of EMP501 and IRP5 to staff.
- Manage Workmen’s compensation submissions (June yearly).
- Submit STATS SA submissions.
- Maintain EEA/BBEEE reporting.
- Fixed Assets Over R8000:
- Open new fixed assets.
- Enter new assets.
- Manage depreciation.
- Dispose of assets if and when required.
Desired Experience & Qualifications
Minimum level of specialist skills/qualifications required:
- Compiling and interpreting Management Accounts.
- Computerized accounting – 5 years experience.
- Strong technical skills – Comfortable in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Self-motivation & ambition.
- Good leadership skills.
- Time management & prioritization skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
