PROJECT PLANNER – CONTRACT (ZIMBABWE)

A dynamic South African Project Management Consulting Company based in Pretoria requires the full-time services of a qualified and experienced Primavera Project Planner with knowledge of mega projects in mining, for a contract opportunity working in SA and on-site in Zimbabwe - 6 months contract (till September 2024), with a strong possibility of a 24 months extension thereafter. Excellent income potential with a structured package. Working on a rotational basis, but mostly on site at an internationally renowned mining company.

Duties & Responsibilities
Working in the Project Controls environment, manage and maintain project schedule by:
- Planning and setting up of project schedule with project stakeholders’ input using Primavera
- Following project planning processes and company procedure on all assigned projects
- Ensuring consistency and reliable progress reporting
- Highlighting any deviation within the programme to the Project Manager and assisting with innovative and appropriate planning advice
- Implementing planning logic, understanding interdependencies and knock-on effects
- Highlighting critical path, Earned Value and appropriate resource loading
- Tracking baseline vs actual progress on schedules
- Highlighting risks to ensure project completion on time - raising early warnings with possible impacts to project schedule
- Weekly reporting to internal and external parties by means of schedule updates and progress reporting
- Assisting subcontractors, aligning, and integrating project schedules and progress reports
- The role requires time on site in Zimbabwe
- Understanding of bespoke consulting business models and ability to do business development
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Relevant qualification and professional registration recommended
- 6-10+ years’ experience in mining projects
- Experience in a similar role, planning of large construction and installation projects
- Primavera P6 and MS Projects knowledge essential
- Sound understanding of fabrication and installation projects
- Driven ‘Can-do’ attitude, with a passion for mega projects
- Process-oriented and assertive to ensure that complex projects are executed in accordance with company established practices and safety requirements
- Bias for action based on logical problem solving and experience
- Able to work under pressure and to communicate effectively with a wide range of project stakeholders
- Attention to detail to ensure the accuracy of the outputs
- Analytical thinker, energetic and flexible
- Must have EPCM Contract experience
- Power BI experience recommended
- Must be willing and medically fit to work on mining/construction sites
Package & Remuneration
Market related - negotiable depending on qualifications and experience.
