Vacancy: Procurement Officer – Durban, KZN
Our Client, a leader in the Retail industry, is seeking to appoint an experienced Procurement Officer to be responsible for the supply of products and services essential for the company’s operations. The Procurement Officer’s responsibilities include strategizing to find the most cost-effective deals and suppliers and to discover the best ways to minimize procurement expenses, so that the company can invest in its growth and people. The successful candidate will be based in their Mobeni, Durban offices.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Devise and employ fruitful sourcing strategies.
- Discover the most profitable suppliers and initiate business partnerships.
- Negotiate with external vendors to secure the most advantageous terms.
- Approve the ordering of necessary goods and services in terms of the company’s policies and procedures.
- Finalize details of orders and deliveries.
- Examine and re-evaluate existing contracts, supply contracts and service level agreements.
- Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.
- Collaborate with key persons to ensure the clarity of the specifications and expectations of the company.
- Foresee alterations in the comparative negotiating ability of suppliers and clients.
- Anticipate unfavorable events through analysis of data and prepare control strategies.
- Perform risk management regarding supply contracts and agreements.
- Control, spend, and build a culture of long-term saving on procurement costs.
- Tracking of asset purchases, asset effectiveness, and protection of assets.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Grade 12 (Twelve).
- Diploma in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Logistics or Business Administration.
- At least 3 (Three) years of proven working experience as a Procurement Officer.
- Knowledge of sourcing and procurement techniques as well as a dexterity in “reading” the market.
- Talent in negotiations and networking.
- Good knowledge of supplier or third party management software.
- Aptitude in decision-making and working with numbers.
- Experience in collecting and analysing data.
- Strong leadership capabilities.
