Job Description
We are actively seeking an individual who can join the Property and Buildings Team and be responsible for preparing technical drawings of ELV and C&I systems as well as Telecoms infrastructure for Large Scale Data Centres. Experience in other Electrical/Electronic services will be advantageous.
Understanding the codes and standards (e.g., SANS & Global ANSI/EIA/TIA/ISO standards specifically pertaining to Data Centres) and transferring this into a design and a drawing, as well as the ability to learn new codes, is critical.
During the drawing process, this position shall analyse information (such as measurements and sketches) provided by engineers, architects, and other members of a project’s professional team. The BIM Modeler needs to apply their knowledge of design and engineering to illustrate visual instructions that relate to technical specifications, including dimensions, arrangements, and installation procedures. These drawings will then be used for tendering and construction purposes.
Attention to detail and the ability to perform and understand multi-service co-ordination is critical.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for design and modelling of ELV, C&I and ICT systems.
- Create and/or modify existing engineering designs and models.
- Coordinate and communicate with building owners, clients, consultants, contractors, and project team members (internally and externally).
- Ensure designs and drawings adhere to deadlines. Willingness to work extra hours above normal hours to ensure deadlines are met.
- Site meetings during construction with engineers and contractors for the updating of designs and models.
- Co-ordination of various services (HVAC, Fire, Electrical, Wet Services, Structural elements, etc.).
- Responsible and taking ownership of designs and deliverables of tender information.
- Be responsible for managing BIM models and coordinating multidisciplinary services and meetings for clash-free models.
- Innovation for BIM purposes and internal operational developments.
- Development of BIM families.

Qualifications
- At least 3 years experience in the consulting and building industry.
- Good knowledge and experience with ELV & ICT systems and their design according to SANS and BICSI standards.
- Understanding of equipment and service co-ordination of multidisciplinary services.
- Specification of equipment and detailing thereof.
- Ability to co-ordinate with other services (i.e., Structures, Fire, Wet Services, Architectural (internal and external) etc.).
- Experience with an array of AutoDesk products (Revit is essential) and a minimum of 3 years’ experience with BIM.
