Job Description FINANCIAL DIRECTOR CA(SA) - SOUTHERN SUBURBS, CAPE TOWN
Top Project Engineering company has an outstanding opportunity available for an experienced CA(SA) to join their leadership team as Financial Director. This role is crucial to their continued growth and financial integrity, requiring a seasoned professional to lead the finance function with a focus on statutory compliance, financial reporting, tax compliance, and shareholder relations. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of strategic vision and hands-on expertise to drive financial performance and support their long-term objectives.
ADVANTAGEOUS EXPERIENCE:
- Working across multiple African countries.
- Intra African VAT and Tax compliance.
- Senior Debt finance raising experience and relationships.
ROLE:
- Develop and implement financial strategies that support the company’s long-term goals and objectives.
- Manage the company’s financial accounting operations.
- Ensure effective cash flow management, optimizing the timing of payments and collections to support company liquidity.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial statements, adhering to accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Preparation of financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Management of annual budgeting and forecasting process with CEO.
- Support and reporting to debt providers as required.
- Ensure the company’s compliance with all tax regulations, including the preparation and filing of tax returns.
- Work with external auditors and tax advisors to manage tax planning and minimize tax liabilities.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in tax laws and regulations, ensuring the company’s tax strategy is optimized and compliant
- Prepare and deliver financial reports and presentations to shareholders.
- Entity and ownership structuring across multiple jurisdictions and reporting/compliance for these entities.
- Assessing and selecting the optimal accounting and other systems software for optimal reporting and tracking of the business performance.
- Presenting company income and expense budgets for approval to the company board.
- Maintain a robust internal finance control environment through the implementation of proper financial controls, policies and procedures.
- Review and interrogate monthly results, budgets, forecasting and divisional/company P&L statements.
- Ensure the company’s compliance with all statutory requirements, including financial reporting, corporate governance, and regulatory filings.
- Manage relationships with external auditors, legal advisors, and regulatory bodies to ensure all statutory obligations are met.
- Oversee the preparation and filing of statutory accounts, ensuring they are completed accurately and on time.
Requirements
- Registered CA(SA) Chartered Accountant
- At least 5 years of progressive experience in a senior role.
- Strong understanding of corporate finance on a strategic and operational management level, with specific experience in Project Accounting, Management Accounting, Divisional Accounting, Financial modelling, Annuity Billing and P&L Statements.
- Up to date accounting, Forex and taxation (local and foreign) knowledge - must have been involved in IFRS AFS preparation.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office and general comfort with IT platforms and use of databases.
- Strong understanding and experience of various accounting software package options.
- Good Understanding of the BBBEE codes of good practice.
- Located in or willing to relocate to Cape Town.
- Ability and willingness for 15%+ Travel as required.
- Able to define and innovate new processes and structures as we rapidly grow.
- Self-starter with the ability to work in an unstructured complex environment typical of a rapidly growing company.
