Formycon is an international leading, independent developer of high-quality biopharmaceutical medicines, especially biosimilars. To support our team in Martinsried near Munich, we are looking for suitable candidates for this full-time and permanent position, to begin work as soon as possible.
The position holder will work as member of the in-house development teams to secure freedom-to-operate for Formycons biosimilar candidates, and to generate IP to protect the companies own innovations. This includes the following tasks:
- Harvesting inventions and securing patent protection world-wide
- Managing the firm's compliance with national employee invention laws
- Drafting, filing and prosecuting patent applications, maintaining and defending the companies own patent assets
- Acting as active member of the firm`s development teams, directing and advising proactively on patent/ freedom to operate and related IP matters
- Providing regular IP -landscape overviews for development projects and recommending consecutive actions to development teams and at executive level
- Preparing and leading clearing-away activities, e.g. EP oppositions, UPC and national revocation actions with the aim to secure freedom to operate for the firm`s development candidates;
- Support in-house activities around development candidate selection, M&A and licenses activities, as well as in-house innovation management
- Lead IP matters in the context of the firm`s collaborative research and development activities
- Supporting of and collaborating with in-house business IP colleagues in all matters around the enforcement of the firm's own IP rights and for IP activities to prepare for launch of own products
- Degree in science preferably in chemistry, biotechnology or biochemistry
- Qualification as European and/or national patent attorney
- Master's Degree plus 10 years or PhD plus 7 years of working experience as in-house patent attorney within the pharmaceutical industry. Experience in the biosimilar field is preferred, experience with generics is advantageous
- Experienced in conducting FTO analysis, harvesting inventions, filing/prosecuting patents before the European Patent Office and USPTO and advising development teams on IP strategies
- Fluent in English, German is a plus
- Excellent communication skills, team player and hands on mentality
- German work permit is mandatory
