Our client a Durban based company, specialising in water and wastewater management for municipalities and industries, is seeking the services of a Project Engineer, on a fixed term basis. (9 months)
The nature of the project requires the incumbent to have water/wastewater project management experience with a good understanding of all disciplines including civil, mechanical, instrumentation and electrical.
Minimum Requirements: - Proficient in MS Project
- Engineer with multidisciplinary experience
- Project management experience in water & wastewater
- Advanced Computer skills
- Passport and willingness to travel, if required
- Able to read drawings Water and/or Wastewater Treatment
- Plant project management experience

Key Responsibilities:
General :
- Take project over from current Engineer
- Understand the project and manage it according to contractual requirements
- Full responsibility and accountability for successful project delivery, on behalf of company
- Provide single point of contact for all project stakeholders
- Ensuring compliance to all site and legislative requirements including Labour, Environmental, Health & Safety etc.
Project Engineering: - Project budget and cash flow management
- Preparation of adhoc project documentation
- Sub-contractor enquiry preparation, adjudication input and contract management
- Develop and maintain project program, including sub-contractor programs
- Develop technical specifications for work packages/equipment
- Request and evaluate proposals/quotes from suppliers
- Review of design documentation and drawings
Construction: - Complete on-site construction management, including commissioning, process acceptance testing support and training of plant operators
- Site establishment of all contractors
- Detailed record of daily site activities, including site photo’s
- Contractor management and co-ordination including work schedules
- Plan, coordinate and communicate site activities
- Quality control
- Weekly project progress preparation and reporting, including 1 week look back, 2 week look ahead
- Notifications, claims and variations preparation
- FAT attendance, if required
- Snag-list preparation and close out
- Materials delivery scheduling and off-loading
- Payment certificate authorisation
- All project administration including site access, inductions and meeting minutes
- Knowledge of South African construction legislation
- Issuing site instructions
- Maintain file saving and sharing structure

Commissioning & Performance Testing: - Cold and hot commissioning, process acceptance testing support and training of plant operators
- Compiling Operation and Maintenance manuals, including a maintenance schedule.
