Group Accountant Internal Reporting - Gauteng, Johannesburg
Client: One of the large JSE Listed Financial Services Groups
Purpose: The Group Accountant will be responsible for the GROUP INTERNAL REPORTING FUNCTION - the consolidation of monthly and annual financial reporting function in the client and all associated processes. Seeking a strong candidate who is either a SAICA registered CA(SA) or completing the qualifying exams. The person must have had experience at Group Level with Group AFS packs (consolidations and reporting).
Responsibilities:
- Assist with producing monthly consolidated management accounts, including the Group Income statement, Statement of Financial Position, Statement of Other Comprehensive Income, Statement of Changes in Equity, Cash flow statement, and preparation of segmental information. This includes the review of foreign subsidiary translations and all consolidation entries to produce IFRS compliant results.
- Produce a consolidated view of the Group budget and forecast for presentation at Group Exco and the clients Limited Board.
- Assist with preparing financial results for the clients Limited Board meetings.
- Produce the Interim Results and Annual Financial Statements (AFS) for the client, as well as various other external reports.
- Provide financial information to the Group Risk team to assist reporting of Solvency and Embedded Value.
- Assist with ad hoc queries received from the Investor Relations team.
- Liaise with internal and external auditors.
- Assist with the administration of the accounting system (Sage) and reporting tool (Finnivo) for the client as needed.
- Assist with updating Group AFS pack or monthly management account template changes in Finnivo as needed.
- Assist with ad hoc finance queries from business areas.
- Assist with preparation and review of SENS announcements relating to financial results.
Requirements:
Qualifications: The candidate should be a qualified CA (SA) with a minimum of 3 - 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably at Group level. Experience in the financial services industry is advantageous.
