Based East Rand. Multinational family Group which has small & highly professional Offices around the world is seeking a Regional Sales Manager for their African business. The Corporate Holding Company overseas manufactures their niche products and is the worlds most trusted original equipment manufacturer (OEM) with their machinery being exported and assembled at each of their Customers factories. Due to the uniqueness of their machinery and suite of products there are very few competitors locally and internationally. In addition to their core products being sold, there are accessories & upgrades, repairs & maintenance, spare parts, training and support which are also sold to their Customers (which are all currently in the mining sector). It should be noted that other industrial customers outside the mining sector can be targeted which will represent a new customer base for the business. Their machines are state of the art and the Holding Company has received multiple awards in their country of origin. The Company is deemed an employer of choice and each Office mainly consists of an experienced team of Engineers and Technicians. The culture of the business is informal yet professional with a high working ethos, transparent, target driven, passionate and very hands-on from top to the bottom. The Regional Sales Manager will report into the Regional General Manager Africa who reports directly to an Executive Team at the Corporate Head Office.
The Regional Sales Manager will directly supervise 9 Staff: 3 based at the SA Office whom manage the Southern African Region, 3 based in Ghana whom manage Western Africa and 3 based in Zambia whom manage Central Africa. The 3 consists of a Service Accounts (Sales) Manager & 2 Technicians. Key performance areas will include being innovative with new product launches and technology, drive new ideas in selling their niche products, open up new markets, able to effectively analyse numbers and create graphs to assist in understanding the business, viz: by using data analysis & techniques. There will be extensive travelling around Africa as the Sales Manager will be visiting Key Accounts and existing Customers as well as potential new Customers together with the applicable Service Accounts Manager in that Region. The candidate will manage the Sales Budget and measured on attaining targets, ensuring various margins are obtained in the sale which will include providing discounts where applicable. Monthly reports will be prepared for Senior Management together with PowerPoint presentations both for Customers and Management. The clinching of Service Level Agreements (SLAs) is key in this position, noting that after assembling and commissioning of the machinery, income is further generated by the sale of accessories and parts and other ancillary products, e.g. safety upgrades, masks, suspension products, training, shut down inspections, etc. It should be further noted that the underlying sale is providing a Mill Solution to the Customer that not only includes the actual machinery but also Service and Maintenance Agreements!
Requirements:
- The candidate must have an Engineering qualification which can be either a Diploma or Degree and come from an OEM Company in a Sales & Marketing capacity.
- It is expected that the candidate will be passionate in respect of his/her chosen career, able to do the hard sell, is a strong negotiator and understands the intracacies of closing a deal.
- Able to manage, mentor and motivate staff, work independently, be proactive and assertive, have in-depth Excel skills including data analysis and comfortable presenting a professional PowerPoint Presentation.
- Being well spoken, well presented, respectful, trustworthy, ethical, having a positive mind-set and able to work well in a small Office with a motivated team. In addition, the candidate should have basic finance skills, viz: able to manage and understand a budget, variance analysis, margins & discounts and must be able to travel extensively.
