Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implement and oversee planned, preventative, corrective, and emergency maintenance for power systems (medium/low voltage, emergency power, UPS, generators, solar), environmental systems (HVAC, fire and gas suppression), and data center infrastructure.
- Maintain systems like power distribution (including cabinet PDUs) and environmental controls for optimal uptime.
- Oversee daily operations to ensure effective performance of power, cooling, and security systems.
- Utilize Building Management Systems (BMS) and Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) tools for monitoring and risk management.
- Drive adherence to maintenance processes, innovating cost-effective solutions as needed.
- Lead technician teams with a focus on training and performance tracking.
- Coordinate with procurement and external vendors to meet SLA standards, ensuring timely part delivery and vendor compliance.
- Conduct monthly reviews with critical vendors and manage supplier agreements.
- Ensure adherence to South African safety regulations and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Conduct regular safety audits, manage change control, and maintain detailed HSE documentation.
- Ensure proper medium-voltage switching protocols and prepare for audits with work permits.
- Maintain critical power and environmental systems, managing HVAC to ensure optimal conditions and monitoring energy efficiency for cost control.
- Develop disaster recovery and incident response plans, coordinating quick responses to outages.
- Review incidents to prevent future occurrences and lead regular emergency drills.
- Manage maintenance budget, tracking costs, forecasting expenses, and controlling costs.
- Generate reports on maintenance activities, equipment health, and KPIs for management insights.
- Schedule staff shifts, manage leave, and ensure performance through coaching and feedback.
- Address performance issues, conduct tool and vehicle inspections, and manage overtime.
- Facilitate staff development with training and personal development plans.
- Support technical projects and oversee commissioning.
- Manage asset lifecycles, maintain accurate maintenance records, and inform clients on equipment replacement needs.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- B-Tech or Degree in Engineering: Mechanical/Electrical or related formal qualification
- Matric (Senior Certificate)
- Valid SA Driver's License
- Data Experience is a must
- CDCP Certificate
- Engineering experience in maintenance engineering, and Property Management
- OHS Act, ISO 9001 Quality Management and Risk Management Systems
