The Wealth Advisor is the principal contact with the client, primarily high net worth and targeted individuals and families. This individual will have a broad and deep understanding of sophisticated wealth management practices and investment strategies. The ideal candidate will have extensive impact/mission related investing expertise and a solid knowledge of financial planning principles.
The Wealth Advisor is responsible for maintaining the ongoing relationships and leading in the development of new client relationships. Duties include managing the delivery of wealth management services to the client, maintaining regular communication, and working in consultation with the client’s other advisors as may be applicable.
In addition, this position will require coordination with client support personnel, including analysts and administrators in delivering investment management, tax, financial planning, and other pertinent financial services.
Your Role:
Essential Functions
- Understands the principles of sales (hunting and farming) and is a strong influencer with individuals with the ability to grow and leverage networks.
- Develops leads and referrals from current clients, referred and new opportunities and outside contacts through a defined sales process and pipeline management.
- Seeks to increase current accounts through additions to Assets Under Management (AUM) as well as upselling and cross-selling related products and services.
- Offers value-added fee-based services.
- Participates in sales meetings with prospective clients.
- Represents house views, practice philosophy, and lifestyle financial planning process to colleagues, clients, and prospects in person, or by written proposals and commentaries.
- Maintains professionalism in all aspects of engagement internally and externally.
Client Service
- Establishes a level of trust and confidence with clients so that any financial issue can be addressed and solutions offered.
- Evaluates and discusses options to assist clients in meeting their financial and lifestyle goals.
- Maintains extensive communication with clients and their advisors during and post-sale reviews.
- Discusses investment performance, economic and market trends.
- Delivers presentations to clients on financial and tax planning options and opportunities.
- Engages in direct consultation with attorneys, accountants, and other advisors on financial, tax, and estate planning.
- Plans, facilitates, and presents client meetings.
- Develops and/or delivers private wealth education sessions to clients and staff.
Financial Planning
- Develops a knowledge of the client’s entire financial and family situation and structures goals based on investment and financial plans.
- Follows best practice Cirrusfin Houseview in relation to financial planning processes.
- Discusses estate planning, retirement planning, investment planning, tax planning, and works with internal and external resources to meet planning goals of the client.
Investment Planning
- Establishes client investment objectives including risk tolerance, asset allocation, and cash requirements.
- Develops an investment policy statement (IPS) with each client based on their goals, objectives, and risk tolerance, and reviews it annually.
- Implements investment plans.
- Translates investment policy to individual investment objectives.
- Monitors manager performance versus benchmarks and develops insights for clients regarding key contributors and detractors.
- Monitors asset allocation per risk profiling recommendations and evaluates needs quarterly.
- Reviews portfolio issues (i.e., taxes, liquidity events, capital calls, etc.) quarterly.
- Presents alternative investment ideas to clients.
- Manages investment transition for new clients.
- Collaborates with the Investment Management & Research Team regarding practice model portfolios and industry trends.
- Provides recommendations to individuals and family trusts or foundations enabling them to fulfill their goals related to mission/impact investing.
Administration and Compliance
- Possesses strong administrative skills and orientation.
- Works closely with the back office and other team members, particularly client support personnel.
- Follows defined administrative processes.
- Is familiar with the FAIS Act, fit and proper requirements, and is compliant in all functions and tasks 100% of the time.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
- A degree or equivalent qualification in a related field (Investments, Finance, Law, Accounting/Tax, Economics, Business Administration) and/or 5 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least one NQF Wealth Management, CFP, CPA, CFA, or CIMA certification.
