To support overall function in defining, adapting and embedding overall strategic and operational objectives through the provision of high-quality regulatory advisory, analytical, project management and administrative capability to mitigate the impact of regulatory changes across markets, considering the strategic requirements and international best practice.
Lead strategic imperatives by partnering relevant networks and stakeholders to execute and leverage regulations to achieve strategy and enable new commercial opportunities. Provide regulatory subject matter expertise and input into strategy with timely and insightful briefs and advice on regulatory developments, their international and local impacts on the business, to enable the business to be commercially successful whilst legally and statutorily sound.
Build, maintain and extend partnerships with internal stakeholders (Legal, Compliance, Risk, Finance, Advocacy, Prudential teams, Sales & Trading) to clearly communicate regulatory requirements and standards, gather cross functional insights, deepen understanding and raise organisational awareness of regulatory matters affecting the business.
Design and execute constructive advocacy and engagement strategies with regulatory policy and political audiences to influence and shape industry views and practices to ensure policy supports the continued growth of competitive financial markets.
Manage implementation of initiatives to enable sales and trading within regulatory policy and anticipate trends in market regulatory response to create new product opportunities within regulatory risk exposure and opportunities of the market.
Guide CIB Digital, GM Digital, Technology and Business Heads on regulatory considerations to support implementation of digital roadmap to enable platform functionality, legality, commercialization and utilization to achieve GM strategic objectives.
Continuously review GMs existing regulatory policy and practice to ensure that the business has appropriate and effective methodologies to assess and manage regulatory risk exposure and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Actively manage and influence risk and governance committees on current and future regulatory risk and control matters to ensure the business is compliant and meets current and future governance requirements.
Future-proof the business against regulatory shocks by proactively collaborating with cross-functional internal and external stakeholders to anticipate emerging regulatory and supervisory challenges and opportunities for the GM business to enable the business to adapt to regulatory changes to mitigate risk and enhance revenue generating opportunities.
Fulfil the data steward responsibilities for the business, ensuring data and information is used, accessed and stored optimally to serve the needs of the business and according to data and information governance requirements, policies, standards, processes and procedures.
Monitor trends and establish strategic partnerships to identify and mobilise specific technology enablers, to meet regulatory requirements and best practice standards.
Prioritise and allocate work, and offer technical guidance, on-the-job training and constructive feedback to the team to build capability and improve efficiency. Manage and monitor daily team activities to ensure performance metrics are met and service level agreements are maintained.

5-7 years
Strong understanding of financial services regulation in South Africa and globally. Demonstrated experience working with or for policy makers and regulators, both locally and offshore. Demonstrated experience anticipating upcoming regulatory changes to facilitate trading with counterparties or across geographies, both locally and offshore.
3-4 years
A proven track record building partnerships to deliver regulatory related projects and analysis. Ability to manage multiple projects in parallel and across multiple stakeholders.
1-2 years
Ability to draft, interpret and understand legal documentation. Understanding of contract law principles, particularly as this may impact cross-border relationships. Proven international law experience.
