Mining Professional Position
Our Mining client in the Northern Cape is sourcing for a Mining Professional to join their production team.
Duties & Responsibilities
Health, Safety and Environment
- Complies with the Mine Health and Safety Act as well as company policies and procedures.
Production
- Assists with the drawing up of business strategy and budget formulation.
- Ensures optimal production of mining and plant.
- Achieves productivity targets.
Cost
- Ensures correct allocation of resources e.g., labour and equipment.
- Allocates/withholds funds as dictated by operational requirements.
Labour Management
- Defines labour structure and ensures vacancies are filled within a reasonable time.
- Reviews subordinates’ performances quarterly according to their respective KPIs.
- Approves and monitors overtime in the maintenance department based on Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) requirements.
- Manages leave schedule.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- National Diploma or B. Degree in Mining.
- Opencast Blasting Certificate.
- At least 5-10 years’ experience in an open cast mining environment, with at least 2 years at Production Manager level.
- Proven experience with opencast production & maintenance.
- Medical Fitness.
- Thorough experience in drilling, blasting, loading, hauling, and pit dewatering.
- Candidates must have a valid driver’s license.
- Excellent verbal and written communication in English.
- Must be medically fit and pass a medical examination as required by the designated mines.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines as determined by the supervisor.
- Must possess basic problem-solving and self-management skills.
