An established, but rapidly expanding transport and logistics business based in Bellville, Cape Town is seeking four (4) highly organized and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join their team asap.
The Assistant Accountant will play a vital role in supporting various accounting functions, including accounts payable. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-volume environment.
Responsibilities:
- Accounts Payable: Approving vendor invoices, verifying accuracy, and ensuring timely payments. Reconciling vendor statements, resolving discrepancies, and maintaining vendor relationships. Assisting with the preparation of accounts payable aging reports and analysis.
- Bank Reconciliation: Reconciling bank accounts, investigating and resolving discrepancies, and ensuring accurate recording of transactions.
- Compliance: Ensuring compliance with accounting principles, standards, and regulations. Staying up-to-date with changes in accounting standards and assisting in implementing new policies and procedures as needed.
Qualifications:
- Certificate or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 1-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in the transportation or logistics industry.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Salary: R 16000 and R19 000 basic salary, based on skills and experience.
