Supervisor (Packing Plant)
Our client, a leading Manufacturing / Production company based in Durban, is looking to fill the position of Supervisor (Packing Plant).
Purpose of the Role:
Reporting to the Production Manager, the incumbent will be required to ensure planning, supervision and leadership of the shift, and safe operation of the production process by leading initiatives to control, achieve technical KPI's and to provide support in improving the running of the packing plant.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise the packing plant team.
- Optimisation of the packer machines for efficient production.
- Ensure production targets are met daily.
- Perform daily and monthly stock reconciliation.
- Compile daily, weekly, monthly production reports.
- Ensure accuracy of inventory stock, plastics, and empty bags.
- Manage efficient usage of packaging materials per production line.
- Reduce waste generation at the palletizer and packing area.
- Perform first line maintenance.
- Report breakdowns which could or do result in stoppages to production, escalate matters in operations meeting.
- Callout shift artisan for breakdowns that require more attention.
- Assist stand-by artisan in breakdowns.
- Acceptable standard of workmanship, ensure no repeat work.
- Data documented as required.
- Ensure safety and housekeeping.
- Manage and support SHEQ initiatives to achieve company SHEQ objectives.
- Ensure safety on the job through attending to safety checks.
- Conduct installations and maintenance.
- Ensure implementation of S.W.W.P.
- Be a part of the process team.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Grade 12 Senior Certificate.
- Recognised trade test - minimum of NTC 4 as a Millwright (ideally studying towards completing N6 Diploma).
- 5 years relevant experience in heavy industry engineering.
- SAP experience.
- Basic computer literacy, business communications and business numeracy skills.
