We are looking for an Actuarial Analyst to join the Group Business team, reporting to the Group Actuarial Team Lead. The Group Business department writes sustainable group reinsurance business, which includes mortality, disability and critical illness benefits, across South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa. Established in 1968, Munich Reinsurance Company of Africa serves life and non-life reinsurance clients across the Sub-Saharan Africa from our hub in Johannesburg. Your Role:
- Pricing and reviewing group risk schemes. Ensuring application of sound experience rating and risk management techniques for larger schemes.
- Data analytics, data checking and data reporting.
- Monitoring profitability of group risk business.
- Ensuring that Munich Re’s actuarial and risk management standards are met in the pricing activities carried out.
- Training clients on pricing tools.
- Liaising with internal stakeholders on pricing related tasks.
- Calculating profit shares payable on certain portfolios.
- Measuring new business profitability of larger schemes.
- Enhancing business processes through automation.
- Assisting with ad hoc investigations and queries for the Life business.
Your profile:
- Bachelor’s degree in actuarial, statistics or business science.
- At least 4 actuarial exams.
- One or more years of experience.
- Clear understanding of Excel and/or other data modeling software.
- Knowledge of employee benefits would be advantageous.
- Some life insurance product knowledge.
