Vacancy: Initial Technical Manager for Rentokil Initial South Africa (Initial)
To provide Technical leadership and product/service-quality stewardship across all business units, by ensuring that both best operational practice and safe working practices are adhered to at all times.
To ensure that the business operates to, and maintains, the correct level of technical competence (knowledge, skills and experience) in both Service and sales commensurate with a world class, global, professional service company.
To underpin our "Experts in Hygiene" positioning by providing high profile specialist and expert support to the business units, including customer support, training, troubleshooting, and best practice consultancy.
To take technical accountability for the smooth and successful introduction, validation (field testing) and fitness for service of new products and services.
To ensure & assure conformance of the country operating business to both local legislation & regulations, and the Company technical, operational and SHE policies; to take timely corrective action in the event of any shortfall ensuring any risk is communicated and then mitigated in a timely manner.
Key Outputs and Accountability:
- Being the technical expert within the country's senior leadership team and ensuring that sales, marketing and service decisions incorporate sound technical principles.
- Managing the technical education and training of the service and sales community across the business and assuring minimum standards of competence are achieved.
- Managing the technical support team to drive both growth via specialist technical surveys and continuous improvement in service costs, service quality, H&S performance, and competence in the field through inspections and coaching of field staff (sales and service).
- Managing the country's authorised products list and providing technical stewardship (incl. authorisation/sign off) for all preparations, PPE, equipment and field practices including dissemination and assuring compliance with Pink Notes.
- Ensuring that Divisional policy, initiatives and development activities are communicated to the country management team and implemented in the country.
- Ensuring that country/regional perspectives are represented to Divisional Technical by engaging actively within the global Technical community in regional technical meetings, global virtual teams, and technical task forces.
- Identifying and delivering Technical projects to grow sales, improve service quality, or reduce service costs.
- Technical liaison with external bodies including local regulatory bodies and legislators, trade bodies, suppliers, and local academia.
- Conducting Technical due diligence according to divisional guidelines for acquisition candidates.
- Ensuring all company policies and procedures are understood and adhered to by the service team e.g. OH&S, Human Resources, and Security Policy Compliance etc.
- Ensuring that personal knowledge is maintained and kept up to date on all technical aspects of current services offered within the Country.
- A team player with maturity, significant gravitas, and capable of standing up for personal convictions, functional strategy and the highest company ethics.
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills capable of working effectively with customers, sales and service managers, the technical management community worldwide, and technicians; able to adapt comfortably to a wide variety of people and operational situations.

- Manages multiple priorities and timelines and uses strong technical and problem solving skills to approach complex projects.

- Strong commercial and entrepreneurial qualities being able to express technical benefits in clear and pragmatic commercial cost benefit-risk/return way.
- Possess an established track record of excellent customer support, ideally able to leverage existing key account relationships for Rentokil Initial.

Qualifications and Experience:
- Matric certificate or equivalent.
- Good computer skills – MS Office: Word, Excel, Power Point; above average numeracy skills.
- Good knowledge of Rentokil mainframe (internal applicants) - ICABS & Progress; good understanding and experience in the 'regulatory' and technical environment of RISA; experience/knowledge of H&S and Quality Management principles and programmes.
- At least 5 years experience working in a culturally diverse environment, with specific work experience of RISA technical and commercial practices.
- A track record in disciplined project management.
