We are looking for a Finance Manager to play a critical role in assisting the Head of Retail and Head of Fresh and contributing to the overall financial health and success of the Retail/Fresh Operating Division. The role also involves educating and supporting individuals in the business on financial information, monitoring business financial health, and creating efficiencies in the operating model across all aspects of the Operating Region's Profit and Loss statement.
Minimum Requirements
- BCom/Hons Degree in Financial/Management Accounting
- CA (SA) will be advantageous
- 3 years of experience in Retail Finance Environment with extensive experience in Financial Modelling, Reporting Analysis, Budgeting, and Forecasting. Meat industry experience will be an added advantage
- Working knowledge of SAP, Sage Evolution, and Meat Matrix will be advantageous
- Professional knowledge of Operating Business Model
- 1-2 years' experience in Management Accounts is essential
- 1 year financial planning & reporting experience is critical for this role

- Strong data analysis and management skills to analyze large amounts of data using finance tools such as SAP, BBP, and Analysis for Office

Key Responsibilities
- Educate and support individuals in the business on financial information, monitoring business financial health, and creating efficiencies in the operating model across all aspects of the Operating Region's Profit and Loss statement
- Provide all finance support to run the business area, including driving improved profitability and cost efficiencies
- Collaborate with Retail and Fresh leadership to understand and align financial strategies
- Ensure that financial plans and objectives support the business & long-term goals and growth strategies
- Prepare business cases for new initiatives and investments as required by the Head of Retail/Finance Division
- Monitor performance against approved business cases and approved budget
- Draw reports to generate insights to support decision-making within the retail division
- Monitor financial performance, identify key trends, and analyze variances against budgets and forecasts
- Communicate financial information clearly and effectively to stakeholders
- Prepare regular financial reports for retail leaders and senior management
- Maintain project budgets and forecasts
- Ensure adherence to financial reporting standards and regulations
- Develop a deep understanding of the overall Meat industry and Pick n Pay business
- Analyze cross-functional and business data to inform strategic, operational, and domain-specific trends
- Support the Retail Finance executives by understanding and integrating with the business
- Assist business in resolving financial audit queries
- Implement and ensure continuous improvement on all processes between Finance and Operations
- Lead or contribute to the annual budgeting and forecasting processes for the retail division
- Develop and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to assess the financial performance
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to develop a model that identifies future potential financial issues
- Act as the Risk Manager for the Operating Region and manage all risk-related matters
