Materials Controller
A Tissue manufacturing company in Kempton Park is looking for a Materials Controller with 3 - 5 years of experience within paper/tissue or FMCG industry.
- Supervise and handle the stacking of all raw materials in as far as safety and FIFO (first in first out) are concerned.
- Process all wadding materials related transactions on the system.
- Supervise and handle the process of material transfers to the machines and finished goods transfers to the storage area.
- Ensure correctness of transactions in WMS as well as in SYSPRO.
- Ensure that the machine operational staff record material flow correctly from/to the different warehouses and bin locations.
- Reconcile physical and system stock daily.
- Prepare for and execute stock counts.
- Ensure high standards of housekeeping at all times.
- Ensure all rejected raw materials have correctly completed NCR’s daily.
- Arrange with group supply planner to have rejected materials uplifted daily and to prevent backlogs in returns of poor raw materials.
- Ensure pallet stocks are always sufficient to keep supply to the converting factory without interruptions – especially ahead of weekends.
- Immediately report to maintenance and follow up daily breakdowns to MHE – where needed make immediate plans for cover to prevent impact to operations.
- Ensure that all materials are stored in a manner that prevents damage.
- Ensure that all stock is properly labelled with the company’s stock codes for easy identification and count.
- Ensure that all redundant materials are kept separate from good stock and a strategy is decided on how to manage the stock – write off, sell, re-use etc.
- Advise the group supply planner in writing of all BOM’s that are not accurate – using the trial kit process to highlight errors in an urgent manner.
- Drive compliance by the converting plant in running out poly and wadding materials fully and to prevent waste – escalation via communication to group supply planner daily.
- Ensure that all butt reels or rejected reels from machines are wrapped, labelled with the wadding code and reel number, and are weighed and placed into the correct hold location.
- Drive QA to ally a properly completed NCR to all reels removed from the rewinders – escalate noncompliance via communication to head of QA and group supply planner.
Job Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
Qualifications: Grade 12 (Matric). Studies in a supply chain related field (BPIM or PPIM) would be an advantage.
Experience: Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience in a FMCG manufacturing and materials management environment.
Skills:
- Self-confident, initiative, and good interpersonal skills
- Computer literacy on MICROSOFT office
- ERP system knowledge, preferably SYSPRO
- Ability to adhere to procedures and controls and to set these controls.
- Self-confident, problem solving and trouble shooting ability as far as system.
- Self-disciplined and motivated
- Innovative ‘can do’ approach – sees the challenge not the problem.
- Physically fit and able to perform physical lifting as required ad hoc.
- Able to manage a team through example but apply the disciplinary process where required.
- Safe work process adherence.
- ERP system procedures and adherence thereto.
