Our client, a global manufacturing concern that has a long history in South Africa and boasts many blue chip local and international customers, is looking for a suitably qualified and experienced individual to process, extract, analyse and deliver accurate operational cost and capital cost information within the business.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Acquire and maintain the competence to act as an AX super-user ensuring proper management of daily, month-end and year-end procedures.
- Run the automated monthly management reporting pack for review and finalisation.
- Develop and capture on the ERP system of input modules used in budgeting and forecasting process.
- Ensure adherence to internal control procedures published for ISO and external audit purposes.
- Analyse and reconcile all general ledger accounts and maintain the electronic and hard-copy monthly reporting file.
- Prepare and submit input for the monthly payroll.
- Review and reconcile the monthly payroll prior to payment.
- Generate cost recovery invoices (e.g. in respect of tenants and scrap sales).
- Monitor and review the stock ledgers for completeness and follow up on any outstanding matters relating to physical stocks and the stock costing system.
- Monitor all capital expenditure, measure against approved amounts, and update the fixed asset register.
- Process monthly depreciation charge in the general ledger and wear and tear calculations for tax purposes.
- Update any AX tables inherent in the accounting system (e.g. transfer values, rebate rates, commission rates etc).
- Assist in the preparation of data for certificates required to be audited.
- Update data in any business model.
- Provide accurate and timeous information on actual variable and fixed costs compared to the budget or forecast consistent with the General Ledger.
- Attend to the preparation of detailed analysis schedules required by the auditors or the company’s tax return.
- Assist in preparation of fixed and capital budget requirements (e.g. payroll budget, fixed costs).
- Prepare statutory (PAYE/SDL/UIF, VAT, RSC, Rates, Provident Fund, Workmans Compensation etc) and various statistical returns.
- Calculate the Stock Overhead Rate and any provisions required against stock.
- Attend to ad hoc accounting issues arising from the business activities of the company.
Minimum Requirements:
- Degree or Diploma in Accounting/Finance.
- At least 5 years in a commercial manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge and experience working on an ERP system (Microsoft Dynamics/AX would be an advantage).
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office packages (Excel, Word etc).

Package & Remuneration
