Logistics Coordinator
My client is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join their team as a Logistics Coordinator. The successful candidate will be responsible for the transportation, warehouse handling, and execution of sales contracts for bulk commodities. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to ensure strict adherence to contractual and trade terms.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Notify customers of contract allocations and maintain general communication for local commodity.
- Liaise with silos for instruction numbers and plan load outs.
- Ensure timely upliftment of cargo by clients and nominated transporters to minimize storage costs.
- Raise invoices for clients/transporters incurring storage costs on a daily basis.
- Obtain dispatch instructions from clients and coordinate dispatch/delivery requirements accordingly.
- Execute sales contracts in strict accordance with contract terms.
- Download dispatches from various silo facilities and liaise with customers, silos, transporters, and service providers.
- Consolidate and forward summaries of clients' dispatch instructions to relevant silos.
- Liaise closely with Accounts Dept to ensure upfront payment from clients before releasing cargo.
- Prepare pro-forma invoices for cross-border clients to obtain necessary import permits.
- Ensure receipt of signed contracts from clients before executing tasks.
- Attend to all customer queries in a timely and professional manner.
- Appoint service providers such as transporters/bagging crew when required and ensure costs are within budget.
- Assist Accounts Dept with queries requiring additional information.
- Keep up to date with procedural/documentary requirements for exports and attend to necessary admin for cross-border shipments.
- Dispatch original shipping documents to clients as per sales contract terms.
- Update database daily with dispatch details.
- Monitor and control release of stock for shipments under Collateral Management Agreement.
- Monitor clients' CGIC limits and place necessary holds on stock if exposure exceeds coverage.
- Ensure timely data updating and invoice generation daily.
- Contract management and follow-up on signed returned contracts.
- Fulfill all tasks required of the Grain section efficiently and effectively.
Education & Experience:
- 3-5 years’ experience in logistics/warehousing/Grain Industry ideally.
- Relevant tertiary qualification preferred.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Exceptional knowledge of imports and exports.
Working Environment/Physical Demands:
- Internal relationships with Commercial, Finance, and IT departments.
- Willingness to work unconventional hours, including nights and weekends, in support of a global operation.
