Category Manager: Maintenance & Equip (Cape Town, ZA)
To lead a cross-functional team to achieve the lowest total cost ownership (TCO), while improving service and quality for the purchased commodities and to add value to the bottom line, through assessing, managing, and reducing the commodity spend.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the assigned sub-category by building and executing strategic sourcing plans and category management plans supported by in-depth analysis of purchasing demand, supplier, market, and price/cost structures.
- Generate suppliers bid list and assessment criteria, execute the bidding process, drive the negotiation strategy, and prepare & operationalize the contract to ensure delivery of business objectives.
- Develop and ensure sustainable and effective supplier relationship management through a reliable supply base and build partnerships with strategic suppliers.
- Lead pre-qualification of potential suppliers, develop clear strategy to optimize allocation of spend across suppliers, review supplier performance and assess supplier risks.
- Manage end-to-end contract management life cycle and develop mitigation plans to ensure delivery and performance of suppliers as per agreed SLA’s.
- Deliver on sub-category savings and goals in alignment with sub-category savings targets and operational goals with Category Head.
- Monitor and drive smooth execution of transaction processes by providing visibility to business and managing transactional risks.
- Drive interactions with business to understand requirements and align on demand planning and forecasts using relevant division’s business plans.
Minimum Requirements:
- NQF Level 7 (Degree in Supply Chain / Transport Economics or related).
- 8 years of Procurement experience including developing/executing sourcing strategy.
- Procurement Category Management experience.
Advantageous:
- Degree in Engineering.
- Certification equivalent to CIPS.
- Experience in a national company.
- Engaging with different business units within Engen.
- Manage Contract Management System.
- Engaging with regulatory stakeholders and external participants in the oil and gas industry.
- Playing an active role in maintaining Engen’s license to operate.
- Extensive data mining and analysis.
- Driven to meet tight business and project deadlines.
