A vacancy exists within the Corporate Accounting and Reporting team for a Financial Analyst. The incumbent will be required to support the Group Management Accounting team as well as the greater Corporate Accounting and Reporting team in terms of maintaining and improving monthly processes and systems.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Cost and Management Accounting Diploma or similar commercial qualification, or B Com Accounting degree.
EXPERIENCE:
- 5 years’ experience in financial forecasting, modelling reporting environment;
- Good understanding of Non-GAAP reporting and related concepts;
- Strong financial accounting knowledge will be preferable;
- Be acquainted with all AngloGold Ashanti Group accounting policies and accounting directives;
- Competency in Microsoft Office software is required;
- Experience of AngloGold Ashanti systems e.g. SAP, HFM and TM1, and a strong systems orientation would be advantageous;
- Knowledge of the group structure and operations within AGA.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Good understanding of financial and economic concepts;
- Ability to interpret, analyse financial data, reports, statements, and advise accordingly;
- Ability to model additional scenarios of a variety of financial and non-financial matters as and when required;
- Conceptual thinking;
- Attention to detail;
- Ability to present findings from modelling succinctly to senior management;
- Track record of effective interaction with senior managers and good interpersonal skills.
JOB OBJECTIVES:
The core purpose of this role is to coordinate and collate data to ensure accurate and available data for management decision making, provide analytical support to the Management Accounting team and to develop reports and models that support group processes.
The role holder is also accountable to ensure effective communication to business units, collation of submitted data into required formats and reports.
- Financial Analysis: The role holder is accountable to review and analyse financial reports, budget processes, business plans, forecasts, audit reviews, and related processes to identify trends, risk areas, compliance, cash optimisation opportunities and general efficiencies.
- Reporting Coordination: The role holder is accountable to coordinate the various management reports with relevant role-players to ensure accurate, complete and compliant data.
- Management Accounting: The role holder is accountable to provide accurate and relevant data for management accounting purposes, and for updated monthly and quarterly management reports, dashboards and other relevant financial information. The role holder is also accountable to provide input where required into the annual financial reporting process.
- External Reporting Quality Assurance: The role holder is accountable for reviewing selected investor presentations, reports and data for external publication for accuracy, compliance, etc.
- Group Budgeting: The role holder is accountable to assist with the group budgeting process. This includes the collation of information for Exco reviews and the Board submission and associated sign-offs on approved budgets. The role holder is also accountable to assist with monitoring overall group performance, for reporting purposes.
- Market Intelligence: The role holder is accountable to assist with Credit Rating Agencies’ interactions to provide required data, and to identify potential opportunities, compliance and or risks.
- Regional and Corporate Office Support: The role holder is accountable to provide guidance, support to regional finance teams and corporate office regarding planning, budgeting and reporting. This includes ensuring compliance, monitoring of application, addressing gaps, variances, and exceptions.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly supplementary analysis reports and comments.
- Prepare and maintain templates to review HFM packs received from operations.
- Maintain SOX controls where applicable and assess changes in the control environment. Monitor and ensure adherence to SOX controls as defined.

- Ability to deal with various, urgent, once-off requests as and when required;
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

REMUNERATION:
A market-related package commensurate with the experience and track record of the candidate is offered. The salary will be in accordance with the AngloGold Ashanti Schedule of Salaries.
