- Ability to perform planned and breakdown repairs (disassemble, inspect, and assemble) Caterpillar Earthmoving components to supplier standards and customer requirements.
- Ability to ensure reusability of parts during inspection.
- Ability to analyze hydraulic part failures using the guidelines.
- Understand how hydraulic systems function.
- Ability to disassemble, inspect, and assemble hydraulic cylinders, pumps, and valves to Caterpillar standards.
- Compile accurate component analysis and inspection reports.
- Maintain a professional image when representing BWE.
- Ensure safe work practices.
- Control of contamination.
- Control own admin (labour booking, service reports, part returns, expenses, etc.).
- Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately maintained.
Qualification, Experience and Competencies
- Qualified in relevant trade (e.g., Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic).
- 3 to 5 years of trade experience in the component repair process.
- 3 to 5 years minimum experience in hydraulic components.
- Component-specific technical knowledge and skills.
- Advanced knowledge in the Caterpillar Service Information System – SIS2.0.
- Basic technical report writing.
- Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Failure analysis skills.
- Understanding of supplier warranty systems, policies & procedures.
- Follows quality processes.
- Sound interpersonal and communication skills.
- Computer literate (use of tablets and apps, Outlook, Microsoft Office, STW & ET) knowledge.
- Driver's license.
- Team player.
- Punctual.
