Overview & Key Responsibilities
The Sales Engineer will be responsible for the sales growth in the merchant gases business unit by bringing online profitable new business covering the full range of merchant gases products and applications in the KZN Region, in accordance with present targets, strategic imperatives and/or KPI’s. Further, maintains and services the company’s current regional customer base.
The Sales Engineer will function in the following key areas of responsibility for this role which include but are not limited to:
- Growing company sales through prospecting for new clients in line with set sales targets;
- Responsible for stewarding current accounts and ensure customer satisfaction is delivered and maintained;
- Growing Air Products’ market presence through various marketing initiatives;
- Ensuring adherence to company SHERQ procedures and policies, (including relevant legislation) at customer sites and play an active role in the management of the existing safety programs;
- Carrying-out sales administrative duties and any general ad hoc duties;
- Responsible for business and personal development within the sales environment.
Essential Requirements
- Grade 12 with Maths, Accounting, Science, English and Afrikaans;
- Recognised Certificate / Diploma / Degree in Sales & Marketing
- Minimum 5 years sales experience in gas / chemical/technical or related industry;
- A valid unendorsed code 8 driver’s licence;
- Computer literate in MS Office;
- Ability to produce written reports on sales activities and good communication skills (verbal & written);
- Must have good people and negotiating skills and understand customer centric service;
- Able and willing to travel and overnight stay over;
- Knowledgeable of welding, specialty gases, fabrication, bulk processes, and applications to provide gas solutions to market.
