A Stellenbosch based daytime restaurant on a well-known wine estate is seeking a Junior Sous Chef to join their team.
With fantastic working hours in a fun and upbeat environment, the ideal candidate needs to be a team player and have good communication skills.
This is a sought-after position as the restaurant is not open evenings, only offering breakfast and lunch! General working hours will be from 7:30 – 17:00 with 2 days off per week.
The ideal candidate needs to be an experienced, hardworking, enthusiastic individual, a self-starter, fluent in English, well-spoken, passionate about food & wine, creative, goal-driven, and possess a strong work ethic.
Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Menu execution in-line with the standards already set by the Head Chef.
- Excellent use of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and processes.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure.
- Sound knowledge of best cooking practices.
- Tertiary Culinary Qualification a prerequisite.
- Enforcing and maintaining strict health and hygiene standards.
- Must be able to manage a busy pass.
- Admin skills will be a strong advantage.
Requirements:
- Valid South African driver's license.
- Own transport.
- Good communication skills.
- Contactable references.
- Sober habits.
- Experience in a similar position.
