Trade Execution Operations Specialist (Stockbroking Operations)
To ensure that the Corporate Actions in RSO is performed efficiently and effectively. Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures for Corporate Actions Procedure Document as well as JSE Rule 15 when dealing with any Corporate Event. Perform the settlement functions for RST/RMS and in the event that the Settlement Officer is not available, resume duties as Alternate Settlement Officer and attend to the administration of the operational matters and all relating functions in the most efficient and expedient way. Ensure that all transactions in uncertificated securities are settled in terms of the JSE Rules and Directives. Attend to queries by the JSE in relation to settlement and to attend to settlement related administration.
Are you someone who can:
- Ensure all Corporate Actions are timeously and expediently delivered/received and that receipt/payment of dividends is accurate and in accordance with acceptable procedures.
- Ensure that client elections are received prior to the earliest surrender/acceptance/election/termination date where necessary.
- Ensure that BDA records (Nominee Register) are updated within 24 hours for shares that are in electronic format and have been terminated/converted.
- Ensure that confirmation is received from the CSDP via MT566 message confirming the holdings as well as payment/election instructions.
- Ensure that any positions on stock accounts, client accounts & lenders accounts in all locations are consolidated, adjusted and confirmed with the relevant party, by close of business on LDT +3 (normally Wednesday before RD).
- Ensure that BDA positions are correctly reconciled to the MT 564 message received to confirm LDR holdings and that any differences are resolved at the very latest, by LDT+3.
- Ensure that elections against balanced BDA positions are accurately and correctly updated before 12 o’clock on the election day (normally Wednesday before RD).
- Ensure that Rights Take-up against balanced BDA positions are accurately and correctly updated before 12 o'clock on the election day (normally Wednesday before RD).
- Ensure that all entitlements are correctly released on BDA on pay date.
- Ensure that any differences are resolved without delay.
- Ensure that all entitlements (due from open deals) are received within the time frames stipulated in the JSE rules.
- Ensure that all entitlements (due to open deals) are released within the time frame stipulated by the JSE Rules.
- Ensure that the correct nature of the cash entitlement is established (dividend or capital repayment).
- Ensuring that the entitlement is deposited to the correct bank account and that receipt of such cash entitlement is captured on the correct BDA account.
- Ensure that scrip entitlements are accurately and correctly allocated on BDA.
- View dividend control accounts and ensure that all new entries passed on the controlled accounts are correctly recorded & reconciling items on dividend control accounts are correctly resolved without delay.
- Ensure that the journal entries are prepared for authorisation with all relevant supporting documentation.
- Ensure that the journal entries are authorised, before input into the BDA system.
- Ensure that any dividend claim that may arise is initiated, correctly recorded in the full and accurate register and persistently followed up until settled.
- Ensuring that dividend claims are correctly and promptly processed if received.
- Provide CM & R with a breakdown of any Non-resident accounts on whose account any capital repayment/liquidation payment/rights take up will take place, to ensure that funds are transferred to/from the correct account with the correct value date, so as to avoid use of other client funds.
You will be an ideal candidate if you have the following:
- At least 6 years experience in a Stockbroking Operations environment.
- A broad knowledge of The JSE BDA System and the importance of segregation of duties.
- Knowledge of RMB Internal systems an advantage. Settlement Officer qualification a requirement.
- Fully computer literate in Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint.
