PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The purpose of this job is to take full responsibility for the planning, controlling and driving of the company’s Quality Management System and team to ensure all completed orders delivered to clients meet their required quality standards. This includes close liaison with all role players, including customer quality auditors, investigating and resolving quality failures, training staff in quality standards, continuous improvement initiatives and management reporting.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Ensure that all garments delivered to clients conform to the client's quality specifications
• Monitor trends in Examiner Accuracy levels and take steps to ensure that continuous improvement is achieved
• Monitor that the Repair Rate remains under 5% and make recommendations to the Production Manager for corrective action, where required
• Monitor that the Reject rate remains under 0,5% and make recommendations to the Production Manager for corrective action, where required
• Monitor the variance between the Repair Rate and the In Process Inspection Rate, and take corrective action where required
• Training and administration
REQUIREMENTS:
• National Diploma in Clothing Production Management or equivalent knowledge and experience
• Sound garment construction knowledge and practical experience, including fabric and trims
• 5 to 10 years’ proven working experience in a clothing factory as an examiner/ supervisor in quality
• 3 to 5 years’ proven working experience on middle management level
• Sound background in pattern making and grading
• Good experience in examining and auditing procedures and techniques
• Previous experience in or knowledge of cutting and branding procedures
• Good numerical ability to compile and interpret statistical data
• Good report writing skills
• Computer literate (MS Office, Internet, ERP/ Quality systems)
• Able to work as part of a production team and achieve hourly targets
• Able to work shifts and overtime when required
• Reliable with an excellent attendance record
