Chief Rock Engineer
Our client, an International Mining House, has an exciting opportunity for a Chief Rock Engineer to join their dynamic organization.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for the planning of mine layouts and stopping sequences, control of the incidence of rock bursts, design and implementation of all support standards.
- Ensure long-term stability over stoping of haulages, crosscuts, and inclined shafts, shaft pillar design and extraction plans, and support for main excavations, pump chambers, water dams, settlers, hoist chambers.
- Organization of introductory rock mechanics courses for mine production officials and identification of Rock Engineering and Strata Control best practices.
- Discover and implement support and design projects to improve return on investment, Risk, Health, and Environmental procedures, and codes of practice.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Chamber of Mines Rock Engineering Certificate.
- 5 Years operational experience at Senior Rock Engineer/Strata Control level.
- Exposure to both Open Cast and Underground Mining environments.
- Code B Driver License.
- B Eng. Mining Engineering/BSc Geology or equivalent will be an added advantage.
