Duties & Responsibilities
Presently, the organization is actively seeking a proficient Group Accountant: Reporting to join its ranks. The chosen candidate will play a pivotal role in the meticulous delivery of both internal and external consolidated reporting obligations. Furthermore, they will be integral to advancing the strategic finance objectives of the Group, particularly in areas concerning reporting, accounting, and financial control.
Duties:
- Overseeing the preparation and review of group consolidated accounts for each reporting period for presentation to the Executive Committee (EXCO) and the Board
- Reviewing subsidiary financial statements
- Helping with technical queries and contributing to the preparation and review of technical documentation
- Supporting financial managers throughout the reporting process
- Coordinating with external audit providers
- Ensuring timely and successful resolution of issues to enhance client service delivery
- Managing client query processes, tracking, and accurately resolving queries
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with clients, as well as internal and external stakeholders
- Actively participating in and positively influencing change initiatives
- Contributing to continuous innovation by developing, sharing, and implementing new ideas
- Identifying solutions to enhance cost effectiveness and operational efficiency
- Presenting shareholder results to the EXCO
- Overseeing the control accounts governance of the Group
- Managing and monitoring statutory control accounts and related reconciliations
Job Experience & Skills Required:
Qualifications:
- Matric
- BCom Accounting or equivalent
- BCom Accounting Honors/CTA
- CA(SA)
Experience:
- Completed articles within a big 4 audit firm
- 2 - 3 years’ experience post articles
- Experience in the insurance/financial industry
- Group Reporting experience is essential
- Understands technical or professional aspects of work and continually maintains technical knowledge (e.g., IFRS)
