Product Head for Business Improvement Division
Our client in the banking sector is seeking a senior manager to serve as the Product Head for the Business Improvement division of the bank.
Purpose Statement
- To take ownership and accountability for the Business Improvement team, responsible for providing business engineering insights/designs, unlocking business efficiency and optimisation to improve client experience and throughput.
- The Product Head role is responsible for translating strategic direction (the what) into a ‘best in world’ product through the leadership of a dedicated team, with the single focus of the product and through the entire product life cycle, planning and management of delivery, (the how.)
Education (Minimum)
- Grade 12 National Certificate / Vocational
- A relevant degree (i.e. Industrial Engineering or other area of Engineering combined with relevant experience)
Knowledge and Experience
Minimum:
Experience
- 10+ years’ experience in business management at a senior level in an innovative high performing environment, responsible for overseeing a team of Business Engineers.
- 5+ years’ experience leading and successfully implementing business transformation and optimization projects.
- Proven experience in improving business throughput and reducing the cost to income ratio.
- Business plan ownership; has had ownership responsibility for owning the business plan and delivery of a Business Engineering previously.
- Project management where there are multiple initiatives with competing priorities and so experience in influencing multiple diverse stakeholders, both business and technology.
- Working at strategic, tactical and technical levels.
- Career experience as Business Engineer.
- Communicating with technical and non-technical senior stakeholders across multiple business units.
- Using data and metrics to test theories, confirm assumptions, and measure success.
- Earning trust across different levels and multiple groups of a large organization.
- Usability studies and/or customer research principles and methods.
- Client development and product validation through customer feedback.
- Using influence and relationships to drive and achieve objectives.
- Leading and guiding multi-functional teams.
- Leading and having oversight of remote / hybrid teams.
Knowledge and Skills
- Experience in implementing a Business Engineering Centre of Mastery.
- Experience in Business Engineering business consulting.
- Strategic and commercial thinking; able to think about problems from a business perspective using people, process, technology input.
- Business acumen and design thinking; able to take a ‘big picture’ view, assess, make a logical, sound decision and influence others to achieve objectives.
- Financial acumen - sufficient to effectively operate own cost centre.
- People leadership and management practices to empower, create focus and delivery.
- Organising, planning and prioritising work.
- Data-driven approach; analytical and quantitative skills.
- Technologically literate and able to adapt to new technologies.
- Able to dive deep in understanding the product, the business, and the competitive landscape.
- Able to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences.
