The purpose of this position is to achieve business objectives, sales targets, and revenue growth for pre-owned sales, while maximizing departmental efficiency and ensuring profitable operations in line with established targets.
Key Responsibilities:
Effectively manage departmental finances in alignment with the budget and strategic company objectives, ensuring rental business quality meets company standards. This includes achieving order intake, invoicing, and gross profit (GP) targets, controlling stock turnover, and managing overheads and debtors in compliance with company regulations.
Plan, prepare, submit, and drive the Pre-Owned Equipment Sales department to meet budget goals.
Prepare and present weekly, monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc reports as required.
Lead the Pre-Owned Equipment Sales Department team with overall responsibility, including bi-annual performance appraisals for each staff member, timely submission of payroll information, conducting monthly departmental meetings, achieving employee climate survey targets, managing leave and absenteeism, and promoting effective internal and inter-departmental communication.
Ensure compliance with company personnel policies regarding hiring, terminations, compensation, benefits, discipline, grievances, safety, and training.
Ensure high-quality customer interaction and service by supporting and guiding the sales team in securing new business, building client partnerships, and creating tailored solutions. Evaluate the development needs of the sales and administrative teams, addressing any skill or knowledge gaps.
Ensure that the sales team adheres to all administrative procedures accurately.
Oversee the sales team’s development and performance within their assigned sales areas, ensuring they maintain acceptable levels of coverage, growth, and profitability within their territories.
Foster customer service excellence by maintaining strong relationships and effective communication with customers.
Expand the department in alignment with company goals and requirements.

Must have requirements:
- A tertiary qualification in Sales or Business Management.
- A proven track record of success and a minimum of 5 years' experience managing a sales team within the materials handling or a related industry.
- Experience working on the Kerridge system
- Code EB / 8 driver's licence
- Strong financial and numerical aptitude.
- In-depth knowledge of new business development, including targeting and converting competitor accounts.
- Demonstrated entrepreneurial skills, with a focus on adding value through smart and efficient business practices, and experience in developing, communicating, and implementing sales strategies.
- Strong decision-making skills, with the ability to take initiative and assume responsibility.
