The job title is General Labourer and the candidate will be hired as a General Labourer and later trained for the Assistant Inspector position.
General Labourer duties:
Ensure the telecommunication site is well maintained by conducting general routine maintenance on site.
Main duties include:
1. General Routine Maintenance
- Remove all weeds and rubbish from site.
- Ensure crusher stone is uniformly applied, rake level where necessary.
- Report insufficient stone crush to the Inspector or Assistant Inspector for reporting.
- Sweep all concrete and paving slabs including under customer equipment shelters.
- Report any major access road damage to the Inspector or Assistant Inspector for reporting.
- Complete site audit checklist as per routine maintenance report
- Treat inside of site with environmentally approved weed killer.
- Remove all alien vegetation within 1m from the Site boundary where appropriate.
- Clear weeds 1m (fire break) from the site fence.
- Rake external stone crusher dressing and fire break strip uniformly.
- Cut back overhanging branches and bushes 1 meters from fence perimeter where appropriate.
- Inspect all embankments for erosion and report damages.
- Remove all minor construction/maintenance waste from the vicinity of the site and report any major findings of construction waste.
- Ensure that curbs are re-aligned and levelled where required.
- Ensure that weep holes are clear of obstructions.
- Repair damaged curbs and report where replacement curbs are necessary.
- Repair all damaged joints between curbs with approved non-shrink grout.
- Clean unsealed cable ducts in the manhole.
- Paint rusted manhole covers and frames where necessary.
- Fitted and tighten earth connections at various locations on site and report damaged earth connections.
2. HSE Compliance
- Conducting site risk assessment and toolbox talks.
- Completion of site related HSE checklists, e.g., tool inspections, daily risk assessments.
- Reporting of HSE incidents.
Qualifications & experience:
• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Engineering qualification (mechanical/Civil), diploma or NATED qualification
• Trade qualification (desirable)
• Fall Arrest Technician certificate (advantage)
• Electrical Experience (fault finding, replacing power cables, use of multimeter, AC and DC electrical installations)
• Construction vocational skills (welding, artisan, etc)
• Valid driver's license
