Responsibilities
- Assisting in the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Maintaining an agreed book value under the supervision of a Partner.
- Recording and reconciling financial transactions on a regular basis.
- Assisting in the preparation and filing of tax returns, ensuring compliance with relevant tax regulations.
- Supporting senior accountants in conducting financial audits, including collecting and analyzing financial data and verifying financial records.
- Assisting in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
- Assisting in the analysis and interpretation of financial data to provide insights and recommendations to clients.
- Assisting in the maintenance and organization of client records and financial documents.
- Assisting in the review and analysis of clients' financial processes to identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborating with colleagues to ensure timely completion of assigned tasks and projects.
- Staying up to date with accounting principles, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Assisting in the development and implementation of accounting systems and procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Participating in training sessions and professional development activities to enhance accounting knowledge and skills.
Requirements
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in accounting software (Xero) and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- SARS and e-filing experience.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team as well as independently.
- Problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- A bachelor's or honours degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Understanding of tax regulations and relevant laws.
- Completed articles – SAIPA, SAICA and CIMA.
