Client based in Capetown seeks the services of an HR Business Partner for the Retail and Back office functions in South Africa, acting as a facilitator and influencer on all HR topics. Partner with business leaders on key HR topics like talent management, succession, development, resourcing, and performance. Provide the best HR solutions to attract, develop, motivate, and retain the best people.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Focus and drive the HR priorities of Culture, Leadership, Performance, Diversity, and Development.
- Drive a high level of communication with Business Leaders in South Africa to contribute to the decision-making process of structuring and developing a fit-for-purpose team for the organization.
- Ensure that all aspects of staffing, employee relations, performance management, and compensation & benefits for all employees are delivered timely and in accordance with relevant local labor and commercial legislation, in line with corporate guidelines, the global policy manual, and best industry practices.
- Work closely with the Rewards team to promote and develop overall compensation & benefit programs and ensure proper implementation.
- Partner with the senior managers of all functions to ensure all HR practices and processes are well understood and implemented.
- Work closely with the Talent Acquisition team to ensure relevant future succession and resourcing for key roles and vacancies.
- Drive employee engagement at every level through effective motivation, coaching, training, and development of staff, working closely with L&D to ensure appropriate development plans are delivered.
- Lead Strategic HR Projects to drive maximum business value both in Retail and Back Office.
- Influence and coach middle managers to take correct business decisions.
- Ensure relevance of content and mode of internal communication to all employees on organization topics.
- Maintain HR data and system integrity, and effectively utilize data as a key decision-making tool.
- Ensure constant flow of employee information to Talent and Rewards (and other sub-functions) for proper updates of employee data in SAP HR.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must have the ability to interact at the highest levels of the company and manage multiple stakeholders.
- Proven experience as a strategic, commercial-minded HR Business Partner.
- Strong coaching skills necessary to ensure the drive towards high-performance culture.
- Strong leadership skills.
- A strong and dedicated understanding of the Group and customers' needs.
- MS-Office skills, SAP experience is a plus as well as Excel.
- Experience in managing complex mid to large size projects within HR.
- Good local Labour Law knowledge.
Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications
- Diploma or degree from an educational entity focusing on Business Administration, Human Resources Management, Personnel Administration, or related field.
- At least 10 years of progressive experience in Human Resources Management of a multinational company with experience in HR Management, of which at least 5 years at middle management level.
- Willingness to travel both locally and internationally when required.
- Experience in handling complicated employee relations issues including IR issues and CCMA representation.
