MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To ensure that processes and procedures in the Industrial Relations are adhered to on a company-wide level. Minimizing risks to the business from a dispute resolution standpoint by ensuring that correct and consistent processes are maintained.
The Industrial Relations Officer is responsible for managing and maintaining positive employee relations within an organization. They will play a crucial role in promoting a harmonious work environment by addressing employee concerns, handling labour disputes, and ensuring compliance with labour laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage relationships with unions and ensuring that the Company's treatment of employee is consistent with its core business values and objectives.
- Deliver a comprehensive IR service to all business units.
- Identify, train, and develop key employees on IR-related matters.
- Ensure that labour disputes and grievances are minimised by developing and maintaining effective procedures and ensuring adherence and compliance with Industrial and HR legislation.
- Manage and monitor IR standards and provide monthly reports/analyses.
- Investigate, recommend, and implement policies in line with business objectives.
- Identify and mitigate IR risk.
- Research and update the business leaders on IR trends.
- Facilitate employee harmony to support smooth operations of the company.
- Facilitate communication between union officials, employees, and employer.
- Attend dispute resolution mechanisms (CCMA, Bargaining Council and Labour Courts).
- Handle complaints, manage grievance procedures, and facilitate counselling in conjunction with other stakeholders.
- Investigating and resolving complex or critical industrial relations issues in a timely and effective manner.
- Collating and analysing employee feedback across all levels on a regular basis and revising people programs and policies to generate more positive outcomes.
- Participating in and/or leading projects focused on continuous improvement related to shift patterns, working hours, etc.
- Having experience in the Training Domain will be highly advantageous.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
BSS: INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS OR SIMILAR FIELD.
- Minimum of 5 years working in Industrial Relations within a manufacturing/factory industry.
- In-depth knowledge of the LRA, BCEA and main agreements / collective agreements.
- Knowledge of Job Profiling and Job Evaluation.
- Computer literate.
- Negotiation and Problem-solving skills.
