Maths Education Trainer
Our Client's work is focused in three main areas: teacher training and development, materials development and research in the arena of Maths Education.
Their clients include trusts and foundations; public and private schools; a range of provincial education departments as well as the national education department; listed companies; international organizations and private individuals.
The successful applicant will:
• Contribute to the work of the organization which involves teacher training, materials development and research in Mathematics education with focus in the primary years. This includes:
o Providing in-class support to mathematics teachers over extended periods of time.
o Conducting workshops for mathematics teachers.
o Writing teaching, learning and assessment materials.
o Editing the work of others.
o Testing children and teachers, processing data, analyzing results and preparing reports.
o Manage projects of the organization and the project workers working on the project.
The successful applicant must:
• Be appropriately qualified in the field of mathematics education.
• A degree with a strong mathematical focus is essential
• An Honours or Masters degree is a recommendation.
• Have recent and substantial classroom teaching experience.
• Have experience in teacher training and materials development.
• Exposure or understanding of NumberSense will be a definite advantage
• Have a good understanding of the South African education landscape.
• Be a competent and confident user of Microsoft Office products in particular Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Be able to speak, read and write in English and Afrikaans with an additional South African language a recommendation.
• Be self-motivated, enthusiastic and a team-player.
You must be prepared to travel nationally on a fairly regular basis
