Pure Legacy (Pty) Ltd, based in Southern Paarl, is in search of a proactive and dynamic Commodity Trader to join their growing team. The main focus of the role will be on sourcing, buying & selling of commodity products in local & international markets, managing market risks, & optimizing profit margins. Main product focus will be: Lucerne, Nut, Corn/Maize, Grain. Responsibilities will include: Trading Operations: Buying & selling commodity products in local & international markets, negotiating & executing purchase & sales contracts, monitoring market prices, global demand, supply conditions, & competitor activities Market Analysis & Strategy: Analysing market trends & other aspects that impact commodity supply & pricing, developing & implementing trading strategies, tracking key industry indicators & assessing the impact of currency fluctuations, tariffs, & trade regulations Risk Management: Managing exposure to market, credit, & operational risks by utilizing hedging tools & strategies, collaborating with internal teams to ensure compliance with risk management policies Supply Chain Coordination: Collaborating with logistics & operations teams to manage delivery & shipping processes, ensuring adherence to international trade regulations, coordinating with production & quality control teams to ensure product specifications & standards are met Relationship Management: Developing strong relationships with growers, exporters, importers, & retailers, representing the company at networking opportunities, providing excellent customer service Financial Performance & Reporting: Monitoring & reporting on trading performance (including profit margins, volumes, & overall profitability), preparing reports & forecasts on market conditions, trading strategies, & future growth opportunities, ensuring financial & transactional records are accurate & in compliance with company policies & regulations. Minimum requirements: Proven experience as a Commodity or other product Trader or experience in a similar role within the fruit/agriculture industry; Strong knowledge of commodity markets, pricing dynamics, & supply chain processes; Exceptional negotiation & decision-making skills, with a track record of managing large-volume transactions will be beneficial; Proficiency in trading & risk management software, as well as Microsoft Office; Strong analytical & mathematical skills to assess market data & develop effective trading strategies.
