Our client, a leader in the agricultural industry, is seeking an experienced Head of Engineering to manage and oversee all engineering activities across their farms, factories, and packhouses in South Africa and Mozambique. This role is critical in ensuring efficient operations, maintenance planning, and stakeholder collaboration at the highest levels. Min Requirements: BSc or BEng in Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering is required. Must be a Professional Engineer registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA). GCC certification is advantageous. Must fulfil the 16.2 appointment role. At least 10 years of experience in engineering management within an agricultural environment. Proven ability to develop strategies that optimize CAPEX projects, manage costs, and enhance profitability. Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence senior executives and drive project approvals. Key Responsibilities: Oversee all engineering functions across farms, factories, and packhouses, ensuring efficient asset management and operations. Work closely with divisional heads, the Director, and the executive team to align engineering activities with broader business goals. Develop and implement strategies for CAPEX projects, manage maintenance plans, and ensure assets are available to meet operational needs. Oversee the impact of maintenance CAPEX budgets on costs and profitability. Fulfil 16.2 appointment responsibilities and manage General Machinery Regulations (GMRs). Understanding of environmental and water use regulations is a bonus. Lead a team of 4 direct reports, fostering a strong engineering department. Conduct valuations and feasibility assessments for new farms, packhouses, or acquisitions to determine viability. Represent the company in industry forums, contribute to standardizing engineering practices, and advise on design and maintenance improvements. Additional Information: Travel will be required to advise on and learn from global operations, ensuring best practices in maintenance and design.
