Our client is seeking a Head of Operations to join their team located in Cape Town. The Head of Operations is responsible for overseeing the company's daily operations. This role involves optimising operational workflows to ensure timeous delivery of goods to clients, managing the relationship and effectiveness of our client's outsourced delivery partners and managing the returns process from stores.
Responsibilities:
Oversee daily business operations to ensure smooth and efficient processes.
Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to enhance productivity and efficiency.
Monitor and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement.
Coordinate with various departments to ensure alignment and seamless workflow.
Manage inventory levels, ensuring optimal stock levels to meet sales demands, while minimising carrying costs.
Conduct cost analysis and identify areas for cost reduction and process improvement within the logistics chain.
Monitor the movement of goods through tracking systems and resolve any issues or delays in the logistics flow.
Manage the process of handling returned goods and coordinate reverse logistics operations.
Oversee warehouse operations, including storage, picking, packing, and shipping of goods.
Compile cost analysis and identify areas for cost reduction and process improvement within the logistics chain.
Develop and implement procurement strategies to ensure timely and cost-effective acquisition of inventory (local and imports).
Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to secure the best terms and conditions.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
Monitor and evaluate supplier performance to ensure compliance with quality and delivery standards.
Conduct market research to stay updated on industry trends and identify potential new suppliers.
Manage procurement processes, including purchase orders, invoicing, and payment reconciliation.
Ensure compliance with procurement policies, procedures, and regulations.
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of operations and procurement professionals.
Set performance goals, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance reviews.
Foster a collaborative and positive work environment, promoting teamwork and continuous improvement.
Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team members' skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
CIMA an advantage.
At least 5 years’ experience in operations management.
Strong experience with stock management and control.
Proven experience in operations and procurement management, preferably in a medium-sized business environment.
Strong understanding of supply chain management, procurement processes, and inventory control.
Proficiency in Excel (advanced) and ERP software.
