We seek an experienced Medical Director to lead our client's clinical research operations across Africa. The ideal candidate will have a strong medical background (MD, MBChB, or PhD) and extensive clinical research experience. This position is remote for applicants residing in Africa, with an eventual requirement to relocate to the specific regional office (e.g., Zimbabwe, Rwanda, or Tanzania). The Medical Director will provide strategic leadership, ensure compliance with ethical and regulatory standards, and drive operational excellence in clinical research and healthcare management.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 7 years in clinical research, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role. Successful candidate will also be required to travel nationally and internationally.
Minimum Requirements:
Qualifications: MD, MBChB, or PhD in a relevant field (e.g., Medicine, Clinical Research, Biomedical Sciences).
Experience: Minimum 7 years in clinical research, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
Strong knowledge of clinical trial design, execution, and regulatory frameworks.
Proven track record in strategic leadership, financial management, and team building.
Familiarity with healthcare and clinical research regulations in Zimbabwe and internationally.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership & Strategic Planning: Develop and execute strategic goals, aligning with the organization’s mission. Provide visionary leadership to foster innovation and operational excellence.
Clinical Research Oversight: Lead regional clinical research initiatives, ensuring they meet ethical, regulatory, and scientific standards.
Operational Management: Oversee daily operations, ensuring efficient resource allocation, budget management, and process improvements.
Financial Management: Manage the organization’s budget, identifying funding opportunities and ensuring financial sustainability.
Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with healthcare professionals, regulatory bodies, and research institutions.
Compliance & Regulatory Affairs: Ensure all operations comply with local and international legal, ethical, and regulatory standards.
Team Leadership: Recruit, mentor, and develop high-performing teams, promoting professional development and a positive work environment.
NOTE: This role is initially remote but will require relocation to the relevant region (Zimbabwe, Rwanda, or Tanzania) in the future. The Medical Director must be flexible for both domestic and international travel.
