Requirements:
- Degree in Financial Management - relevant
- Some relevant professional diploma/certification
- Minimum 5 years plus work experience in a financial management role
- Excellent computer skills: Pastel / Pastel Evolution / SAGE / SAP or relevant
- Leadership abilities
Responsibilities:
- Assist the board of directors in the development of company policy
- Report monthly, quarterly and annually ensuring timeous and meaningful production of financial results
- Provide Directors with meaningful management information
- Introduce and maintain cost awareness and effectiveness
- Assist Directors in the definition of company financial objectives and strategies
- Institute effective control systems and monitor that they are maintained and complied with to maintain security over company assets, that all liabilities of the company have been properly brought to account and income and expenditure are properly recorded
- Ensure development of relevant accounting policies
- Assist Director in the determination of budget parameters and provide guidelines with economic indicators
- Ensure that annual budgets are produced in sufficient detail to allow monthly comparison with actuals
- Produce quarterly profit forecasts with variance reporting against budget, in sufficient detail for meaningful interpretation
- Maintain a system of cash management for maximization of investment income and security of company funds
- Attend to the financial aspects of any business transactions involving foreign currency that may arise
- Ensure compliance with capital expenditure policies and procedures
- Enforce strick credit control
- Ensure the assets of the company are protected by adequate insurance and attend to the processing of insurance claims
- Maintain the fixed asset register
- Ensure that the activities of the Group comply with the Memorandum and Articles of Association and the Companies Act
- Wherever directed by the Managing Director, seek legal advice on relevant company matters
- Manage the development and operation of the company's computer system
- Supervise the development and acquisition of new software
- Review hardware requirements and where necessary assist in acquiring new equipment
- Advise on organization structure and alternatives
- Advise on reorganization and reconstruction proposals
- Liaison with statutory bodies/specialists Liaise where and when necessary with auditors, attorneys and consultants, Receiver or Revenue
- In association with auditors, attorneys and/or consultants, minimize tax exposure and maximize tax efficiency
- Compile and maintain statistical records and complete government and other statistical returns
- Participate in company projects as required and work closely with the MD to ensure smooth and efficient the information requirements of Director and provide such information wherever relevant
- Maximise delegation of duties and responsibilities as far as possible running of the business
