We are growing! Pepkor Payments and Lending (Pty) Ltd has an opening for a Junior Software Developer to join our diverse team of Oracle PL/SQL developers. About The Team:
At Pepkor Payments and Lending (Pty) Ltd, we focus on delivering quality software to our clients on an Oracle platform using Oracle Forms and PL/SQL. We also follow SOLID principles. We have some exciting projects on the go, developing new products and enhancing existing ones, with multiple integrations with 3rd parties for critical core business processes.
We collaborate, innovate, ask questions, think of better ways to do things, and enjoy occasional quizzes to broaden our horizons. Purpose of The Role:
The purpose of the Junior Software Developer is to form a vital part of the software delivery team responsible for critical business processes, as well as the development, maintenance, and support of software solutions to enable business strategies and priorities.
Primarily, the areas of responsibility may include, but are not limited to:
- Database design and development
- User interface design and development
- Software development and unit testing
- Writing technical documentation and updating the Wiki site
- Collaborating with Business Analysts and Test Analysts
- Researching and investigating new technologies
- Log analytics
You will also be required to display the following competencies:

- Passion for continuous learning and self-development
To excel in our environment, you would require the following:
- 1 - 3 years’ experience in a software development role and environment
- Solid experience with databases: Oracle / PL/SQL, Postgres (Advantageous: MS SQL Server)
- Solid experience with software: Oracle Forms, XML, SOAP, WCF, RESTful APIs, HTML5, JavaScript, JSON, Stored Procedures, Message Queues (RabbitMQ), Visual Studio, Azure DevOps, GIT, SVN (Advantageous: C#, .NET, Angular)
- Understanding of Continuous Integration, DevOps & SOA
- Experience in Financial Transactional systems (advantageous)
- Exposure to agile development methodologies (advantageous)
