This role is responsible for delivery of the financial accounting/control function in the organisation through other managers and their teams. Carries overall responsibility for the preparation and quality of financial accounts and maintenance of financial records over periods of 3 months to 1 year.
Key result areas
Financial Analysis
- Analyses and monitors the effect of product rule, budget or policy changes on the product and segment's productivity.
- Analyses financial records such as product income and expense trends.
- Assists in deciding on the financial and business viability of new and existing projects and programmes.
Financial Control
- Carries overall responsibility for the preparation and quality of financial accounts for the Savings and Income products.
- Contributes to and implements financial strategy.
- Responsible for the financial accounting/control function in the business unit through other managers and their teams.
Financial Reporting
- Plans and prepares budgets and documents such as the monthly management pack for MFC and PF, according to the savings and income product results.
Governance & Compliance
- Ensures tax, legislative and statutory requirements are met.
- Liaises with internal and external auditors.
Management Effectiveness
- Develops MOs and specialists under supervision.
- Drives operational excellence through area of supervision.
- Holds first line managers accountable for managerial work, including selection, performance management and talent management.
- Manages and leads a team of accountants and accounting specialists to deliver superior results.
- Manages service delivery through a team of managers for periods of 3 months to 1 year.
- Manages the HR function for the department as well as all day-to-day staff administration.
- Selects potential MOs to sustain pipeline.
Role description:
- Responsible for the financial accounting/control function for the money flows for the Risk and Savings and Income products contained on CMOS for SA and Namibia.
- Carries overall responsibility for the preparation and quality of financial accounts and maintenance of financial records for the money flows for Risk and Savings and Income products contained on CMOS for SA and Namibia.
- Ensure that the financial model for the money flows for Risk and Savings and Income products remains appropriate as changes are made to the products/systems.
- Contributes to and implements financial strategy.
- Assists in deciding on the financial and business viability of new and existing projects and programmes.
- Analyses financial records such as income trends.
- Analyses and monitors the effect of product rules, budget or policy changes on the money flows of the Risk and Savings and Income product results.
- Responsible for audit liaison as well as tax, legislative & statutory requirements.
- Has holistic responsibility for the financial management of the money flows for the Risk and Savings and Income product results.
- Accountable for financial analysis and interpretation of financial results for the money flows of the Risk and Savings and Income products.
- Responsible for performing rigorous analysis of the results throughout the year of the money flows for the Risk and Savings and Income products.
- Ensure there are no surprises in the financial reporting of the areas.
- Perform a solid business partner role to PF, MFC and Namibia.
- Fulfils Key management deliveries such as (Monthly general ledger, Treasury management & Assets management).
Role Qualifications and Competencies :
- CA. 3-4 yrs experience.
- Relevant tertiary qualification (Finance / Commercial / Business Related).
- At least 5 years experience defining, designing and developing implementation plans.
- Senior Stakeholder engagement and negotiation.
