Job Description:
The External Sales Representative will be responsible for closing sales through face-to-face interaction with customers based within assigned sales territories. The employee will have to meet with potential and existing customers to present sales proposals, inform them of product benefits and features, and negotiate prices. This will all be done with extensive support from the company and other functionaries within the larger group.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Building and sustaining long-lasting relationships with new and existing customers;
- Traveling within an assigned sales territory to conduct face-to-face meetings with existing and potential customers;
- Continually meeting or exceeding sales targets by selling company products to new and existing customers;
- Developing and implementing an effective sales strategy to drive sales;
- Analysing current customers and market and preparing goals, objectives, and a plan to achieve sales;
- Ensuring knowledge of market movements and factors affecting growth, requesting continuous product information, and ensuring information is shared correctly;
- Researching competitors' products and pricing as well as market conditions;
- Strategically negotiating with potential and existing customers to close sales;
- Submitting regular sales reports to management.
Authority:
- Adhere to all policies, procedures, standards, specifications, guidelines, training programs, and cultural values of the Company;
- Report directly to the Sales Manager and the Directors of the Company.
Accountability:
The Employee must account for his/her activities, accept responsibility for them, and transparently disclose the results. The Employee is accountable for the performance of the responsibilities assigned to him/her and will report on and be held accountable for same, to and by Management. The Employee is also accountable for finances and property in his/her care.
Training:
The Employee may be expected to undergo training on any skills shortfall or skills targets identified during appraisals which may entail after-hours attendance. Training will be provided at the company’s cost. Any time spent on training will be paid as per remuneration salary and no overtime is payable during training.
