ANAESTHETIST – JOHANNESBURG – Commission or Basic, up to R140,000 per month
Our client, a leading Dental Seditionist in South Africa, provides services to over 100 Dental practices in and around Johannesburg. He is looking for an experienced Anesthetist to assist with Conscious Sedation in theaters, freestanding facilities, or dental/medical practices.
Key responsibilities:
- Patient consultation: assess patient health and determine the most appropriate type of anesthesia.
- Sedative administration: administer sedation tailored for the procedure, medical history, and anxiety levels.
- Vital signs monitoring: continuously monitor vital signs (heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, etc.) during sedation.
- Sedation protocols: develop and implement sedation plans in collaboration with other healthcare providers.
- Patient safety: ensure safety protocols are in place, including monitoring equipment, correct drug dosages, and emergency interventions.
- Eligibility evaluations: review medical history to ensure sedation is appropriate and safe, factoring in existing conditions and medications.
Requirements:
- Education: medical degree (MBBS or equivalent), dental degree (DMD or DDS), or relevant certification in sedation of anesthesia (CRNA for Nurse Anesthetists).
- Registration: must be registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
- Experience: prior experience in emergency departments is ideal. Training in sedation will be provided.
- Postgraduate training: completion of six years of undergraduate study, followed by four years of postgraduate study in specialist anesthesia, with one year of internship and a year of community service.
